IN-HOME LESSONS - MCLEAN, VIRGINIA
Classical Guitar Instruction, Brought to McLean, VA
McLean holds a particular place in my performing life. Over the years I have appeared with orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout this community — in its concert halls, its churches, and its private venues — and I have developed a genuine respect for the seriousness with which McLean families approach the arts. It is one of the reasons Georgetown Guitar Academy expanded its in-home instruction to serve students here directly.
In-home lessons remove every obstacle between a student and consistent practice. There is no commute, no schedule disruption, no transition time that erodes focus. The lesson happens in the student's own environment — which, particularly for younger students, produces a measurable difference in comfort, engagement, and retention from the first session.
Every McLean student receives the same instruction as those who study at the Academy's Georgetown studio: a structured, conservatory-benchmarked curriculum developed over two decades, individualized to each student's pace, repertoire interests, and long-term goals. Whether the student is a young beginner and approaching the guitar for the first time, or an adult returning to an instrument set aside years ago, the standard of instruction does not change.
Your Instructor
Georgetown Guitar Academy is led by Piotr Pakhomkin — a Naxos recording artist and Carnegie Hall soloist who completed graduate study at the Peabody Institute under Manuel Barrueco. His students have earned placement at Peabody, Eastman, Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, and conservatories in London and Berlin.
